About Us

Located in the San Francisco Bay Area, we are Labrador Retriever enthusiasts who love our dogs like family.  Established in July 2003, when our first show Labrador, Cilantro, joined us from Gingerbred Farms.  We started showing Cilantro early on, and she proved to be a joy to handle in the show ring. From then forward, we were hooked! We have since raised many Labradors here at Woodmark, and continue to be in awe of the wonderful dogs they are.

 

We live in the Bay Area near the base of Mount Diablo, east of San Francisco, CA.  Our dogs get to enjoy neighborhood parks, take walks around the base of Mount Diablo, romp in our yard, and not to mention the many trips to the mountains north of Truckee.  In addition to "just being a dog", many of the dogs at Woodmark are active in obedience training and trials, swimming and dock diving, and conformation showing.

As we continue our line of Labradors, it is important to us that each and every dog is tested for phenotypical diseases such as Hip and Elbow Dysplasia, along with any heritable genetic diseases. We use the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) to test for Hip and Elbow Dysplasia, and board certified specialists to test our dogs' eyes and hearts! The hallmarks of the Labrador breed are head, coat, tail, and temperament! When we breed our Labradors, our intention is to improve the breed in health, temperament and conformation. These hallmarks are what make up true Labrador Retriever type, and we pride ourselves on striving to preserve this true type in our dogs.
